JOB SUMMARY

L2 PSA Engineer

We are looking for candidates with different levels of skills in the development of PSA models of the reactor installation, spent fuel pool, containment, etc. using the software RISKSPECTRUM or similar. Perform analyses for the purposes of L1&L2 interface, containment event trees, and release category frequency assessment. Analysis of results of performed calculations with RISKSPECTRUM and preparation of documentation. Moreover, the perfect candidate should be able to analyze the results of the performed calculations with severe accident deterministic codes (MELCOR, MAAP).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determination of PDS attributes
  • Development of models of systems, included in the  L1&L2 Interface bridge trees
  • Development of Containment Event Trees and end-state grouping
  • Development of models for severe accident phenomena (e.g., decomposition trees)
  • Verification of the developed models
  • Interpretation of the results and provision of recommendations
  • Documentation of the models and results
  • Develop reports and other required technical documentation in support of the contract
  • Participate in team meetings to coordinate work, evaluate strategic actions, and innovate improvements
  • Interface with clients to understand L2 PSA needs and provide technically excellent and creative solutions
  • Develop and conduct training internally and externally in L2 PSA topics
  • Developing and performing thermal-hydraulic analyses, calculations, assessments, and guidance to support L2 PSA and/or severe accident analysis is an advantage
  • Interface with BNRA to support and defend analyses on behalf of clients

JOBSPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Master’s degree in mechanical or Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Basic computer skills – MS Office, Auto CAD, Excel
  • Must meet nuclear requirements for unescorted plant access
  • Background in nuclear engineering
  • Fluent English – writing, reading, and speaking
  • Working knowledge of nuclear reactor core licensing, technical specifications, safety margin bases, code methodology licensing, and related federal regulations

Each one of the following is considered a big plus

  • Experience with L2 and/or L1 PSA
  • Experience with RISKSPECTRUM, SAPHIRE, RISKMAN, EVNTRE
  • Knowledge of WWER and PWR technology
  • Russian and/or other additional languages a plus
  • Knowledge of Bulgarian and international legislation in the field of safe use of nuclear energy, nuclear safety, radiation protection, emergency preparedness and regulations related to the use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation, occupational safety, and fire safety is an advantage
  • Driving license
